Name Change

1 min read
I really wanted to change my username here and I had hoped that I could just purchase a new name but nope, you have to have a premium membership and I don't want to do that, it would be a waste of money since I really haven't learned enough to be posting art here at the moment.

I REALLY don't want to keep using this name, and I don't want to create a whole new account either. I have a lot of favorites on this one.

I will try and have a WIP posted of my new blog header before the end of the month.

As some of you may know, I have started a romance review/book blog on Blogger. Most bloggers have their themes made by very talented people who specialize in that particular area. However, some other bloggers, like myself cannot afford to pay the price to have someone make a header, buttons, banners and the like for my blog. I consider myself a beginner when it comes to Photoshop and I can pass off some of my work as "Decent," the only problem with making a header for my blog is where to find images of decent to excellent quality for free.

This is where you stock photographers come in. I have been fortunate enough to have found faestock and deswitath (among others) here on Deviantart, both of whom I swear were creating stock images specifically for my imagination to play with.

They were kind enough to allow me to use their stock images for my blog's header (with proper and much deserved credit of course), and it got me thinking: "There must be other stock photographers who wouldn't mind their images being used on headers for romance blogs like mine."

So I wanted to start a list of stock providers that will allow people like me to make headers, banners & buttons for our OWN blogs using their stock images. This list will not be for commercial designers to use freely, COMMERCIAL DESIGNERS MUST CONTACT THE STOCK PHOTOGRAPHER FOR PERMISSION TO SELL WORK MADE FROM THEIR IMAGES!

I just want to gather all the stock photographers who will allow those of us in tight financial situations the opportunity to make our blogs prettier, more visually appealing and above all, give us budding photo shop users a chance to stretch our creative wings so to speak.

The bottom line is: If you are a stock provider (nature, human, animal etc) and don't mind if bloggers contact you for permission to use your stock photos in manipulations that will then be used in headers, link back buttons, banners and the like on THEIR OWN BLOG WITHOUT ANY FINANCIAL GAIN FROM THOSE WORKS, please let me know. Please also leave me a link to your terms and conditions/rules for usage of your images. If you want to create a whole new set of rules for bloggers, then that would be awesome too. Perhaps have them create a DA account to upload their WIP and finished headers here as well so that you can favorite them if you so chose?

My goal is to help make things easier for bloggers in my situation as well as provide some promotion for the stock photographers here on DeviantArt.

Other resource providers (brushes, fonts, textures etc) are welcome to add their names and links to the list as well.

Questions, suggestions and the like are welcome. Trolls are not. Feel free to pass this on to other stock providers.

Quick Note

Those of you who are kindly allowing me to use your resources (stock images, brushes, textures etc) for my romance novel blog will be able to see the finished projects in my Scrapbook with links. As I continue to make things for my blog, I will make a separate folder to put them in.

Thank you for letting me use your resources!

Aside from learning about digital art, photo manipulations and all, I just wanted to let you all know that I do run a romance novel book blog and I do need stock images from time to time to make headers, promo buttons and link back buttons. I'm trying to make my blog more visually appealing to compete with all the other blogs out there, most of which are professionally designed. I don't have the money to have someone design my blog for me, besides, I'd love to learn how to create art based on what goes on in my mind.

That said, please don't be alarmed at the many questions I bombard you more experienced artists with.
